As Takako would say, Enishing is possible! And I would agree with her for the most part, only, one thing that Hanasaku Iroha has failed to do for the past summer season is fascinate me, enthrall me. There was actually a time where I looked forward to every episode in this show. I reveled in Ohana’s exploits and her efforts in adjusting and gaining friends. I liked the whole romance angle with Ko. Now, PA Works has scrapped those early “pluses” and decided to create an episode for each and every supporting character. It’s as if they didn’t have an inn chock-full of them in the first place. My god.

Is that sprinkler supposed to be symbolic?

Symbolic in the sense that the shower head could represent her tears, or that the shower head could represent the torrent of Minchi’s feelings coming out. Nah, most likely just fanservice. Make Ohana all “wet” and get Minchi nehkehd in the process. It’s a win-win for everyone! Read the rest of this entry

Roses are red, violets are blue, I made an omelette with rice, just for you. Find anything odd with that little ditty? You should because omu-rice isn’t something you tend to give to your crush. I would have imagined something as cliched as a boquet of roses or a moonlight serenade…but rice? Come on, how stereotypically Asian can Hanasaku Iroha get? They’re going to be throwing rice at the wedding at this rate.

Yuina's eyes bug me

Culture Festival mumbo jumbo gets sorted out in this week’s episode of HanaIro. Expect the typical “Fue?” from Ohana as well as a heavy helping of Yuina’s banshee-cries, “Eey!” Well moving on, Minchi informs everyone of her habit of sitting and staring creepily at chefs, Nako helps her loner classmate, and Ohana and Yuina do nothing. What a wonderful episode. I couldn’t have cared for the plot any less. Read the rest of this entry

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 19 – The (Many) Faces of Minchi

D'aaaaaaaw

This is technically cheating (In a way) considering that this screen belongs to next week’s episode. We’re going to, no doubt, get into Minchi’s past. Best for last? Maybe. That just leaves Ohana and Ko after this stuff gets sorted out. Anyways, relish these Minhi-focused weeks – she’s that cute. But hold on a minute, what’ thi-

Dang!

No! What the heck? What is with anime and cross-dressing. First we have Naoya from Astarotte no Omocha and Ruka from Stein’s Gate…and now…Ko. If there exists a divine being up above, get rid of this horrible atrocity this instant. I can not go about my day in the right mind after having seen something this scarring. And the way he laughed? I shudder at the thought. Read the rest of this entry

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 18 – The Little Mermaid (Ikoku Meiro no Croisee, Too)

Why so surprised?

Why so surprised, Ohana? She looks much better in that dress compared to you, and I bet those boys didn’t fail to notice how well-endowed she was. She’s got you beat in several departments, Ohana – sad to say. And even though I just praised Nakochi for being cute and whatnot, she managed to grind my gears in spite of that. Such a shame.

She blushes ...all the time

Hanasaku Iroha chose to select Nakochi as its main character for this week’s episode. And as such, we follow her throughout her daily routine as she dreams of being a mermaid, takes care of her siblings, works, gets paid, and gets hit on. What a day. Or so I would say, except for the fact that it doesn’t mean jack considering she’s to shy to really do anything much in any of those situations.

Hanasaku Iroha Ep. 17 – Sacred Seven Ep. 4 – Houston, We’ve Got Two Problems

Hanasaku Iroha Hanairo Enishi Ohana Matsumae Satsuki Nakochi Minchi Takako Jiromaru Kissuiso Yuina Yusonagi Tohru Ren Sacred Seven Aiba Ruri Tandoji Alma Makoto Kagami Dark Light Anime Episode Review

Bang!

Treasure this picture of Yuina, folks, as this is pretty much her only scene in this whole episode. She didn’t play much of a role at all this week and her only purpose was to deliver news to Ohana – which she already knew. That being said, it wasn’t only Yuina who was shafted; Ohana, Nakochi, Minchi, and Jiromaru (My precious Jiromaru) were all relegated to the statuses of side characters. Most of the show focused on Enishi’s self-confidence issues and his “blooming” period, for lack of a better term.

OH MY NAKO

...sets my LOINS on FIRE.

Hanasaku Iroha wasn’t the only show that threatened to turn into a bore-fest, Sacred Seven fell into a ditch this week as Alma, Ruri, and Kagami take part in the school’s efforts to set up the school festival, the hallmark of any school-based show – besides of course, the swimsuit episode. Anyways, the Dark Stone was a joke and didn’t call for a transformation. After all, aren’t those stones expensive as hell? Read the rest of this entry

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 10 Review – Seperation Anxiety

Hanasaku Iroha Hanairo Ohana Moe Kawaii

This picture right here gives the illusion that Ohana has long hair and reaffirms all my thoughts that Ohana would look much more kawaii (how’s that Japanophiles?) if she had more hair. And while we’re on that thought, wouldn’t pretty much any character look good with longer locks? You know what, screw that. Jacob Taylor looked like a homoesexual twat with long hair.

Hanasaku Iroha Hanairo OhanaA pressing matter for me, even more important than the plot, is to find out whether or not Minchi drew this face. It shows her taking the marker out, but the scene soon skips to one where Minchi is tucking Ohana into bed. Even Sherlock Holmes would be duped. Read the rest of this entry
