Hanasaku Iroha Episode 21 – Enishing is Possible

As Takako would say, Enishing is possible! And I would agree with her for the most part, only, one thing that Hanasaku Iroha has failed to do for the past summer season is fascinate me, enthrall me. There was actually a time where I looked forward to every episode in this show. I reveled in Ohana’s exploits and her efforts in adjusting and gaining friends. I liked the whole romance angle with Ko. Now, PA Works has scrapped those early “pluses” and decided to create an episode for each and every supporting character. It’s as if they didn’t have an inn chock-full of them in the first place. My god.

Is that sprinkler supposed to be symbolic?

Symbolic in the sense that the shower head could represent her tears, or that the shower head could represent the torrent of Minchi’s feelings coming out. Nah, most likely just fanservice. Make Ohana all “wet” and get Minchi nehkehd in the process. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 20 – When Omelettes Just Don’t Cut It

Roses are red, violets are blue, I made an omelette with rice, just for you. Find anything odd with that little ditty? You should because omu-rice isn’t something you tend to give to your crush. I would have imagined something as cliched as a boquet of roses or a moonlight serenade…but rice? Come on, how stereotypically Asian can Hanasaku Iroha get? They’re going to be throwing rice at the wedding at this rate.

Yuina's eyes bug me

Culture Festival mumbo jumbo gets sorted out in this week’s episode of HanaIro. Expect the typical “Fue?” from Ohana as well as a heavy helping of Yuina’s banshee-cries, “Eey!” Well moving on, Minchi informs everyone of her habit of sitting and staring creepily at chefs, Nako helps her loner classmate, and Ohana and Yuina do nothing. What a wonderful episode. I couldn’t have cared for the plot any less.

 No! What the heck? What is with anime and cross-dressing. First we have Naoya from Astarotte no Omocha and Ruka from Stein’s Gate…and now…Ko. If there exists a divine being up above, get rid of this horrible atrocity this instant. I can not go about my day in the right mind after having seen something this scarring. And the way he laughed? I shudder at the thought.

Hanasaku Iroha Episode 15 – Yuina Gets Jealous of Ohana

I shit you not, Yuina really does start to get a little bit jealous of Ohana. It’s about high time she changed her whole attitude towards everything because, quite frankly, she’s starting to act like a snotty brat. And though Yosuke was characterized as a giant dick in the past episode, it comes to light that he’s actually a nice guy underneath all that. It’s just that he’s inexperienced (aren’t they all?).

Yosuke’s inn faces a huge dilemna once the part-timers decide to quit. Couple that with Yuina’s shocking rejection, and you can bet that Yosuke’s got a lot on his mind. Luckily for him, the whole class is out and about town, doing whatever pleases them. When Ohana realizes that the inn is in a pickle, she’s quick to offer her assistance. Also, Ohana’s delighted once the inn considers it. However, they decline at first and ask the girls to go about their field trip.
