Kami Sama no Memochou

Well, I urge all my readers to drop any expectations of me ever understanding this current arc. From what I can pick up, it’s about a conflict in the past between the Fourth, Souichiro, and this Yu Gi Oh wannabe (About an illegal immigrant, no less). Not that the idea is horrible in any way. The only thing that stands between me and this show is how droll everything is. I find no excitement at all in any of Alice’s “deductions” or in Narumi. He’s one of the worst protagonists I’ve ever encountered. Then again, he’s the first self-sacrificial male lead to pop up ever since I’ve started this blog. I guess the timing is really what killed Narumi. Had he appeared back when I was nothing but a viewer, he possibly could have been well-liked by moi.

Dantalian no Shoka

That has got to be the ugliest clash of colors that I’ve ever seen in a post, but let’s just stick with it. I don’t want to go digging in my pictures folder for a more “aesthetically pleasing” collage of colors. I mean, hey, you’re not here just for the pictures, are you? You could have fooled me.

Anyways, for those among you that have been paying attention to the opening segment in this show, you should have noticed that the two characters that this episode focuses on are in it. They are Hal Komhout and Flamberge, a Key Keeper and his Forbidden Library (I really don’t know what to call Flamberge and Dalian). They’re an interesting foil for Dalian and Huey as they show a different balance of power. While Huey concedes to whatever Dalian does, Hal is firm and unforgiving when it comes to matters of gravity. Hal and Flamberge work less as a team and more like a craftsman and his tools, Flamberge being the tool. You can bet a penny or two that Huey and Hal won’t see eye to eye on certain things.

She’s the daughter of the cop lady we saw this week. Luckily, being around all those creepy dolls hasn’t harmed her.

Oh, and before I sign out, Dalian was shown with a blonde haired man in the flashback. She had noticeably shorter hair as well as an anti-human sentiment. Dalian made a remark about how humans were stupid about war and such. And I don’t blame her. She’s been a shut-in her whole life (How old is she?) and has only books to refer to. Huey’s grandfather looks surprisingly young, or maybe it’s someone else entirely.

Maybe Dalian’s behind a few of the overarching plot points in this story. I wouldn’t put it past her since she’s surprisingly calloused and selfish. I also wouldn’t deny the possibility that she’s more than a few decades old. There’s always that un-aging character in a show (Usually the girl) with a mysterious past. She may appear all docile now, but just wait until things start to heat up. You’ve been warned! That is, if it turns out to be right.

And what’s up with the funky eyepatch?

  1. Thoroughly enjoyed Dantalian (potentially new antagonists who are mirrors to the antagonists?) and the mystery about the Forbidden Library is one huge tease, but I’m surprised you’re still watching God’s Memo Pad. Face it, the show stinks. Spare yourself the pain!

    • Potentially new protagonists that are foils, is what I would think. They don’t seem to be bad guys. Heck, they saved an entire town.

      KamiMemo…for the lulz.

  2. During the flashback is Rasiel. Not Dalian

  3. Yeah, KamiMemo is beyond ‘blergh’ at this point. Narumi has become a wimpy version of Touma: spouting deep lines without actually doing anything, I mean, at least Touma punches lolis.

As for DnS, well, this was what I needed. A nice, refreshing episode that introduced the plot a tiny little bit. Hal and Flam look like a nice combo if you ask me.

Also, am I the only one that had an Envy (FMA) feel from Flam? ^_^

    • The facial expression art is similar first of all, and that creates the connection between the two characters, Leap250.

Hopefully there won’t be a return to the bottled episode format. DnS should keep ratcheting up the tension by keeping the momentum from this episode.

    • Yup, probably from the fact that the seiyuu sounds similar… or is in fact the same. Who knew?

      Narumi can dig a pit.

  4. “He’s one of the worst protagonists I’ve ever encountered.”

….along with Kujou. I’m glad i’m not the only one that hates him.

As for DnS, i’m not sure if the eye patch girl was Dalian but she sure sounds like her. However, I read through feal87’s blog and he said that the eye patch girl is a Yomihime by the name of Rasiel. Whoever they are, one thing i’m sure is that Hal > Huey.

    • Who’s Kujou? That name sounds so familiar.

Oh god, Rasiel. A sister of Dalian’s?

Hal would get boring, all he does is say, “No”.

      • Kujo must be that one note character from Gosick. Actually the most interesting thing about him was his nickname among his peers at school: the dark reaper. Too bad nothing ever came from this and Kujo remained the same witless bland dunce throughout. In fact the only difference between him and Narumi is hair length.

  5. I was so mad during Dantalian this week that I couldn’t even coalesce my thoughts for long enough to say so. That priest just really rubbed me the wrong way, and I was hoping for one of the dolls to ice him and be done with it. If we’re stuck with this ponce for the rest of the show, things are going to suck right fast.

On KamiMemo’s end though… bleh. How it made a murder, a street gang, and a gangster with wacky hair boring, I’ll never know. All I know is it succeeded beyond my wildest expectations.

    • Mad? At the new characters? Sure, Hal came across as being a bit of a dick, but it seems that he actually gets some stuff done. I don’t like the fact that he looks like Jade Kurtis from TotA… if that’s his name.

Succeeded in the worst way possible.
