Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachlblurgh….. AnoHana Ep 4
Or basically Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai…. I think it translates to something like “we don’t know the flower’s name”, at least, if this site is to be believed.
This is by far, my favorite anime of the 2011 spring season. Why? I can’t quite tell you. But it’s probably got something to do with Anaru… yes, Anaru. It’s sad that anime law dictates that the childhood friend will never be able to get together with the main character. Just look at pretty much any shonen romance anime out there. Hopefully the staff behind this show will break that damned chain and let Anaru win, because god knows she deserves it. Then again, the show has good art, an interesting story, and lovable characters like Yukiatsu, Anaru, Menma, Poppo, and Jinta. The art style is kinda reminiscent of Toradora.
Anyways, so Jinta and the gang are hunting for Menma when Jinta gets into a hissy fit about there being enough Menmas or something. Once again, it’s Anaru to the rescue as she tries to calm him down and talk to him.
But wait! If you thought this bode well for Jinta and Anaru-
Shiii- Anyways, after some talking, a near-death experience, and Anaru practially giving up on Jinta (look at the picture above), Yukiatsu shows up and explains that his Menma wants the search party to give up. The “real” Jinta-Menma, or Jinma, I’ll call her, is obviously torn about this and denounces it. (Scold him!)
Both him and Jinta leave shortly afterwards, and with the mood spoiled, Tsuruko has an idea of sorts.
Yadomi and Tsuruko later confront Yukiatsu about Menma and we get a hint that he’s hiding something. And eventually, that “thing” is revealed to us… Hell, just look at the pics
So, BAM! Turns out Yukiatsu was that second Menma. Ugh, I’m going to have nightmares for days-on-end after this episode. Luckily that doesn’t kill my love for this show, or Anaru. Then again, I saw this coming in a sense, why else would Yukiatsu have a white dress in his cabinet? And it seemed like Tsuruko knew about his cross-dressing hobby… Hm… maybe she liked it.
Thoughts?
